Eatonton's lands were traditionally occupied by Muscogee (Creek) peoples, who used the area for hunting, fishing, and gathering along rivers prior to European settlement. As Georgia expanded in the early 19th century, treaties and land cessions displaced Indigenous people, opening the land for farms, plantations, and small settlements.
