The area that is now Ramseur, North Carolina, sits within what was once the homeland of the Saponi and other Siouan-speaking peoples who lived throughout the Piedmont region long before European settlers arrived. These transportation routes helped keep Ramseur economically viable even as the textile industry began to shift and change in the late 20th century.
