The presence of the Yadkin River encouraged continued use of the land for farming, but also introduced opportunities for recreation and tourism as nearby lakes and parks developed. The New Deal era brought rural electrification and modern utilities, helping local families modernize while maintaining their ties to the land. Community churches—such as Roaring River Baptist and Pleasant Grove—became cultural and spiritual anchors, helping sustain small-town life through periods of economic change.

Today, Roaring River remains a peaceful and rural part of Wilkes County, known for its scenic landscapes and friendly, close-knit community. The nearby Roaring River Vineyards and the Yadkin Valley Wine Trail have added a new dimension to local economic life, blending the area's agricultural past with modern agritourism.
