Suches, often called "the Valley Above the Clouds," is a small mountain community in Union County with a history tied closely to the natural landscape of north Georgia. Community life in Suches is centered around tradition, education, and outdoor life. One of the community's most notable features is Woody Gap School, one of the smallest public schools in Georgia, which has educated generations of children. Annual events, such as the Indian Summer Festival, bring together residents and visitors to celebrate local culture, crafts, and Appalachian heritage. Churches and civic groups have long provided structure and fellowship for this rural mountain population.

Nestled near the Chattahoochee National Forest and with access to the Appalachian Trail, it is a haven for hikers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts.
