Wrightsville, Georgia, the county seat of Johnson County, has a long and storied history dating back to the mid-19th century. Before European settlement, the land was inhabited by Creek Indians who relied on the area's fertile soil and abundant waterways. With the establishment of Johnson County in 1858, Wrightsville was incorporated shortly after in 1866 and named in honor of John B. Wright, a local leader instrumental in its founding. These improvements allowed the community to diversify its economy while maintaining its agricultural roots.

Churches and schools were central pillars of the town's growth, while sporting traditions, particularly high school football, brought pride and unity to residents.
